In this 4-week course, we will learn about slip decoration in pottery, a technique of decorating ceramic products using liquefied clay (slip) that is often colored with oxides.
We will start by understanding how to mix a certain ratio of clay, water, and oxides, to get the desired color and texture of slip. Before moving on to applying the slip, participants will be guided to make a few ceramic objects using the basic hand-building techniques i.e Pinching, Coiling and Slabbing. After that, we will learn and practice various slip decoration techniques on those objects.
This course is offered in two formats: recorded video sessions and in-person meetings. Each week, participants will have access to 2 to 4 exclusive pre-recorded videos. For the in-person sessions, participants are welcome to attend up to two 120-minute class at UPH LV Main Campus, Karawaci, Tangerang, where they will learn with the instructor and use the campus facilities to deepen their knowledge, understanding, and skills in ceramics.
